Asilomar is located on the Pacific ocean at the end of Highway 68 in Pacific Grove. To visit their Website: www.visitasilomar.com
From the San Francisco/San Jose area
Take Highway 101 south to 156 West. Take 156 West to Highway 1 South, through Monterey to the Pebble Beach/Pacific Grove exit, turn right on Holman Highway/68 West. Stay on Highway 68 West/Holman Highway for 3.5 miles until it becomes a city street called Forest Ave. Continue on Forest Ave. for about 1 mile and make a left turn onto Sinex Ave. In just under 1 mile, Sinex Ave ends right at the front gates to Asilomar.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
There are three possible airports: San Francisco International, San Jose International and the Monterey airport. San Francisco is the farthest and Monterey the closest. If you are traveling from the airport, allow 2 to 3 hours from the San Francisco airport (longer if in commute traffic) and 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours from the San Jose airport.
The Monterey AirBus serves both the San Francisco and San Jose airports. For information and schedules go to their website at www.montereyairbus.com (1 831 373 7777).
It is very important to book a reservation with this shuttle service in order to guarantee space. The charge from S.F. to Asilomar is approxiimately $45 plus a $15 drop-off charge at Asilomar. San Jose is $35 plus a $15 drop-off charge. The $15 drop-off charge can be shared by a group traveling together. In order to be able to share the drop-off charge, one person must book the reservation for two or more and place the reservation on his/her card. The card is not charged until you are picked up. However you are responsible for all reservations made even though one or more of your party does not show.
For your departure from Asilomar to both airports, you must book your reservation by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22.
To travel from the Monterey Airport you can take a taxi for $25. Yellow Cab: 831 646 1234.
WEATHER
Asilomar is located right at the shore and the weather may be foggy in the early morning, warmer at midday, cool and breezy in the afternoon and chilly in the evening. I suggest you consult the weather before coming as it can be quite variable. In October the ocean will be very cold for swimming; however, Asilomar has a heated pool for your enjoyment.
DRESS
Dress is casual. We recommend you bring a warm sweater and lightweight jacket with clothing you can wear in layers as coastal areas can get unexpectedly cold, particularly in the evenings. Also we suggest you bring comfortable walking shoes for walking on the conference grounds and the beach.
THINGS TO BRING
There are no telephones in the rooms so bring your alarm clock if you need one. A water bottle to refill each day — a good idea. Dry, portable snacks for those who like to nibble between meals. A small pocket flashlight is also recommended.
PROMOTE YOUR WORK
There will be a table provided if you wish to bring materials or business cards to share with the community.
EXTEND YOUR VISIT
The Monterey Peninsula has many attractions to enjoy. Some of the highlights are the world-renown Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, the scenic 17-Mile Drive along Pebble Beach, the town of Carmel-by-the Sea, Point Lobos, and the very scenic Big Sur along the Pacific Coast. About 80 miles south is Hearst Castle. To learn more about these attractions and to get information on lodgings, you may explore the websites www.pacificg rove.org or www.monterey.org.
CONFERENCE ROSTER
We are planning to put together am email roster of all the attendees. If you do not wish your name and email to be included on the list, please notify us.
In anticipation of rich learning, a powerful community coming together once again, and the deepening of where we stand,
Sandra Smith
