EANT CONFERENCE 2011 | Deeper Where We Stand – An Invitation to Wholeness | October 20 – 23, 2011

— By Sandra Smith, EANT Conference Consultant

California CoastlineThe California shoreline and Pacific Ocean offer a beautiful and serene container from which to explore our depths and edges, our passions and perspectives as we open to the abundance and the intimacy of our physical surroundings.

Weaving poetry, type groups, body movement, panels, images and more, this fall’s EANT conference provides space and time for connection, support, learning and renewal for our Enneagram community.

David WhytePoet and author David Whyte will be our conference keynote. Conference planning circle member Anne Wotring shares this about her experience of Whyte: “David Whyte's message is the importance of breaking habitual patterns, cultivating self-reflection and emotional intelligence, and looking closer in for that which we are not seeing".

Many of you know his poetry, but what you may not know is his power as a presenter. If you haven't seen him, I urge you to come to this year's fall conference. I was lucky enough to spend a week in Ireland with him as he lead our group hiking, biking, singing and storytelling through County Clare. My husband, a deep skeptic, came away changed -- deeply moved by the themes, especially the idea of "listening with the ear of the heart." I still am in awe of the changes that keep occurring in my spouse almost a year later.

Fifteen years ago, David Whyte found himself invited into the corporate world by executives seeking larger language, stories, metaphors and images to grapple with complex, difficult, mercurial global markets, cultures, issues. Whyte calls his work with them "conversational leadership," which he conveys through his exceptional poetry and storytelling interwoven in his talks. His whole body works -- hands, arms, legs, hips, and head -- to find the next line of a poem he is sharing.”

Join us in October at Asilomar Conference Center in Calfornia, as we companion each other on the journey to wholeness.
